Retinitis pigmentosa

Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a type of hereditary retinal dystrophy. The most common forms by far are typical retinopathia pigmentosa and cone-rod dystrophy. The prevalence of RP is between 1 in 3,000 and 1 in 7,000 – making retinitis pigmentosa the most common hereditary retinal disease.
